This is such a classic of the shaming genre I had to break it down.
These ‘transphobic talking points’ presumably include the medicalisation of gender-nonconforming children, especially in the Tavistock clinic, especially at the request of homophobic parents as reported not only in the Times but also on Newsnight. Grace, on what basis do you discount those investigations? And don’t say “because transphobes did them”. Try to give a proper answer, like a grown-up. On what basis do you discount those stories?
Everyone knows trans people, Grace. It doesn’t make you special. But if you cared anything about them *or* gay people, you would want a proper investigation into what’s going on at the Tavistock. Instead, your energies are spent desperately trying to smear the messengers as bigots. I wonder why. I really do wonder why.
Thus begins the theme of ‘me me me me me’ that continues through most of the rest of it. Ignore the testimonies of detransitioners, lesbians, women in prisons, women in rape crisis centres, women in sports…all that matters is Grace’s subjective experience.
“Made a decision to be unaccepting.” What a nasty and dishonest way of characterising people who are worried about these issues. This is a terrible thread, Grace, but with this sentence, you’ve really outdone yourself. It is nauseating. It exists only to try and shut people up about an important subject. Again, why?
Even the people who like her aren’t safe! What a way to guilt-trip your mates!
Huh? Oh, I guess she’s talking about ‘cis’ people, who don’t have any problems.
And of course, at the end, a good dollop of shame to send you on your way. that’s what this whole thing is; a hymn to shame. She is shaming her fans and followers into a state where they are scared to even ask questions. This means a very comfortable life for Grace, who never has to has to make an argument to back up her positions, but not such a comfortable life for those women and kids at the sharp end of them.
I think number 5 is the most bizarre. I'm still not sure what point is actually being made. Like, in an infinite number of parallel universes we all individually don't accept her, and this is something we should maybe reflect upon?
Yeah "cis" people aren't judged every day.
Is she high?
She thinks the whole world focuses their judgment on what may or may not be happening between the bedsheets?
She has to be high.
