For those going to Hyde Park this weekend
Bloody women. Why not take a weekend off?! Venice only comes up to my knee but she’s braver than men three times her size. I can’t make this next one so I hope there will be many of my fellow dudes coming to help protect the women and let them speak. Channel this bloke’s righteous, civilised fury.
Some of my subscribers sent some advice, which I’m sharing below
“Can you message the women who attend Hyde Park concerning hearing damage:-
Use of a loud hailer is physical assault & can permanently damage hearing - some hailers hit an average of 100 decibels, sirens built into megaphones can sometimes be as loud as 120 decibels - all exceed 85 dB(A) which is max safety level WITH ear protection! Note that 95 decibels is 10 times louder than 85 decibels and 100 times louder than a 75 decibel sound.
If the perpetrator is unknown, it doesn't matter. Make an official report of the incident to the police (most people affected will have ringing in the ears), then get a doctor's appointment etc etc.
The more women who make an official report of physical assault (which it is), the more likely it will be that the police will stop the use of loud hailers and other noisy items.
Also, the next time any one of us are surrounded by violent masked men, as happened on Sunday, everyone should take a moment to phone 999, even if—or even especially if—there is a police presence. Do not put up with inadequate police protection. Apparently, if enough calls are logged, it can be subject to a Freedom Of Information request.
