And that’s not all. Last year, Pink News’s Vic Parsons reported on the Yale study into the mental health benefits of transitioning in typically breathless fashion.
From that piece: “Transgender people who undergo gender-affirming surgery are significantly less likely to seek mental health treatment than trans people who don’t access gender-affirming surgery, according to new research from Yale University.”
The study, published in the American Journal of Psychiatry, is believed to be the first analysis of the long-term effect of hormone therapy and gender-affirming surgery on trans people’s mental health.
Researchers used 10 years of medical data for the entire population of Sweden, and compared this with medical outcomes between 2005 and 2015 for trans individuals in Sweden who had received a diagnosis of “gender incongruence”.
All very good news to those suffering from dysphoria and in distress. But that good news curdled last week when the Journal issued a correction, saying that contrary to previous claims, sex-reassignment surgery provides no benefit to mental health.
We reported on this yesterday, but so far there’s been nothing on the correction from either Parsons or Pink News.
If there is doubt over the benefits of transitioning from a publication like The Journal Of Psychiatry, would this not be of interest to them? Why would they sit on such information, given its seriousness, given the high stakes involved for many of its remaining readers?
Could it have anything at all to do with the fact that benjamin Cohen, the CEO of Pink News, is married to a trustee of Mermaids Gender? Or could the answer be even simpler? As Douglas Murray put it to one of their staff…
That Douglas Murray tweet will get me every time 😂
🤣🤣🤣 I'm stealing that Douglas Murray tweet! Perfect!
