Miranda Yardley, who is both trans and a steadfast ally to women, has written this letter in support of Lidia Falcón which I hope you’ll join me in signing.

The iconic Spanish feminist Lidia Falcón O’Neill is being investigated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Hate Crimes of Madrid, and is to appear and testify at the Hate Crimes Prosecutor’s Office on Monday 14 December 2020.

The investigation follows a complaint filed by the Representative of the Trans Platform Federation on 16 December 2019, and a similar complaint in July 2020 by the General Directorate of Equality of Department of Work, Social Affairs and Families, who object to Falcón’s public statements of opposition to proposed national legislation covering self-identification of gender and the treatment of young gender-nonconfirming children.

In particular, Falcón O’Neill has been critical of proposals to allow hormone blockers to be given to prepubescent children (9-10 years old), to use hate-crime laws to criminalise parents who refuse to affirm their child’s self-declared gender identity and compel school teachers to categorise children based upon stereotyped behaviour.

Get a load of this disgraceful exchange: Noah 'Hospital' Halpin blithely tweeting a body dysmorphia sufferer about breast binding as though doling out Netflix recommendations. What Noah et al are doing here is legitimising self-hatred and advocating self-harm to someone with a mental health condition. "Yes, your body is a problem that needs fixing" is the message. I can’t wait to see the back of these dangerous people.

“No methods of binding come without their health problems.” But do it anyway. These are dangerous people.

You don’t say. I suppose it’s easier to harangue a feminist when you make certain subjects off-limits.

Kirsty Wark also used the phrase ‘cis-women’ during the interview. Excuse me, Kirsty, but my Mum is not a not a sub-category of her own sex. Neither is my sister, my daughter or my wife. Some women—who tend to work in the media, I notice— accept the demotion, but many, many more do not. So it is an extremely contentious term, and your use of the word reveals you to have an ideological bias on this matter.

Someone sent me the BBC’s response to a complaint about the issue.

This is fine as far as it goes, but if you have received a similar response, I suggest you write to thank them and ask them if they plan to continue using ‘cis’ in the future. Because every time you hear them deploy this abusive, demeaning, gaslighting, coercive, deceptive term, you can be sure they’re about to treat a feminist like she’s in the National Front.

The silencing incels of Silicon Valley

They’ve done it again. They’ve taken another woman off the Internet for expressing THE WRONG OPINIONS. Sarah Phillimore’s entire Medium account was taken down and she thinks this is the piece that did it. Joanna Cherry retweeted it and it got 3,000 views. Then, Medium sent this.
