There’s been plenty of good news to smile about this week...
Women Of Steel Won’t Weesht
A group of female Labour Party members held a picnic in the centre of Sheffield on Saturday to celebrate Maya Forstater’s recent court victory and the ruling that makes it clear that ‘sex-matters’ is a belief protected by law.
These effectively make Sheffield a no-go area for trans activist David Paisley, who has a fear of ribbons.
The groups spokeswoman, Tracey, who is one of the founder members of Labour Women’s Declaration, said, “All we want is for everyone, trans people too, to feel safe, retain their dignity and feel fairly treated. The Judge accepted that we are not seeking to remove or harm any rights trans people have; we simply want to make sure that women do not lose any of the hard-won rights they have fought so very long to achieve”.
Laurel Is Peaking The World
This week The Telegraph, The Times and even The Guardian all published negative articles about Laurel Hubbard's inclusion in the Tokyo Olympics. The word ‘fairness’ comes up a lot.
THE TELEGRAPH: Jeremy Wilson writes about “The affront to fairness”.
“It is a heart-breaking situation for many female weightlifters, who have trained their whole lives for these Olympics, but who find themselves crushed by the spineless refusal of officials to query Hubbard’s eligibility. The easiest solution, at this stage, might be just to let her turn up in Tokyo. Only then, perhaps, can the harshest light be shone on this absurd state of affairs, one that is an affront to female athletes everywhere and to the very concept of fairness.”
THE TELEGRAPH: Biologist, Carol Hooven, explains why a male puberty gives Hubbard huge advantages over female competitors.
“Male levels of testosterone during puberty, which are around 20-30 times that of female levels, help increase muscle mass, decrease fat mass, increase bone strength and height, and improve haemoglobin concentration.”
THE TIMES: Leading sports scientist, Ross Tucker, writes that Hubbard’s inclusion comes at the expense of fairness.
THE GUARDIAN: Tanya Aldred writes about the need for fairness in sport.
“There needs to be a realisation that you can’t always have it all. Just as women and trans men can’t dominate in men’s sports; and men can’t enter women’s sport; trans women shouldn’t be able to push open a door that was locked for a reason. It isn’t fair.”
Athletes Step Up To The Plate
Hubbard’s inclusion has seen a number of elite sports stars speaking out against the decision. These include Andy Turner, James Guy, Tessa Sanderson, Kyle Langford, Chris Tomlinson, Brett Frave, Ellie Baker, Lorraine Moller, Daley Thompson, Nigel Bakewell, Kate Allenby, Tracey Lambrechs, Monty Panesar and Mara Yamauchi.
Stonewall’s protection racket continues to crumble
Two articles in The Times this weekend blow the lid off Stonewall’s protection racket.
Firstly, this explosive article by Lucy Bannerman reveals that Stonewall has been accused of using the workplace equality programme to coerce publicly-funded bodies and companies into promoting gender identity ideology.
“Documents show how the charity seeks to control what NHS trusts, government departments and local councils say on their social media accounts, demanding public support for its controversial views on gender identity, in return for points on its Top 100 Employers index...
The Times can disclose that the charity is using the index to force organisations to lobby on its behalf, rewarding them with higher rankings if they bring their own policies in line with Stonewall’s agenda, and dropping them from the Top 100 if they do not.”
In a second article, former Stonewall ambassador and co-founder of the LGB Alliance, Kate Harris, describes how radically times have changed since the inception of the Diversity Champions scheme in 2005. She says they have created a monster.
“Stonewall has created an environment where you either toe their line or you are a transphobic bigot. It’s very easy to get it wrong. Ask Stonewall whether we really need to make employees use preferred pronouns or whether women would prefer to keep women-only loos and you’re soon marked as transphobic…
Why are employers in thrall to an unelected lobby group that misrepresents the law, and not safeguarding their organisations’ reputations and the wellbeing of all employees?”
Another domino topples
Northumbria Police have withdrawn their membership of Stonewall’s diversity champion’s racket. Despite being a member since 2014 and despite spending thousands of pound, they’ve seen the blue light and legged it.
Oh We Shouldn’t Laugh
THE OBSERVER published an article about freedom of expression being ‘a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of democracy’, extolling the rights of women to express gender critical views.
It made some petulant boys very cross.
And Finally…
The reaction we're seeing to Laurel Hubbard is exactly why many policies were implemented by stealth with no public consultation.
Ah, finally, a bit of good news, even some Guardian columnists now see what's really happening. Still a slog but this year is definitely more positive. Well done people of the UK for doing so well. Ref Laurel Hubbard, this case might be the last straw and it's great to see athletes speak up. Thank you for this post. It's cheered me up.
