Plenty of good news from the gender beat again this week. Here are just a few stories for your entertainment. Enjoy!
Sex Matters In The House
Sex Matters held a breakfast event at the House of Lords to launch their new report on single-sex services.
The event was hosted by Baroness Anne Jenkin and attendees included Sir Peter Bottomley MP, Miriam Cates MP, Lord Leicester, Lord Blencathra, Baroness Emma Nicholson, Joanna Cherry QC, Baroness Sarah Ludford, Frances Cook and Baroness Dianne Hayter.
Helen Joyce presented the report’s findings and special guests, Jo Phoenix, Karen Ingala Smith and Baroness Shaista Gohir, all provided responses from their own unique perspectives.
No Offence
Police have been warned to concentrate on real crime and stop investigating social media debates as ‘non-crime hate incidents’.
The College of Policing has said that police needed to focus on cutting crime and ‘not get involved in debates on Twitter’.
Andy Marsh, the college’s chief executive officer, said: “The public rightly expect the police to focus on cutting crime and bringing criminals to justice. While we work to protect the most vulnerable in society, we also have a responsibility to protect freedom of speech”.
Cherry On The Cake
Our huge congratulations to Joanna Cherry QC MP who has been elected as the new Chair of the Joint Committee on Human Rights.
A Level Playing Field
England Rugby is likely to exclude trans-identified males from playing in the women's game at all levels.
The RFU is set to agree “A policy change for contact rugby to only permit players in the female category whose sex recorded at birth was female”.
And it looks like World Athletics will soon be following suit with president, Sebastian Coe, calling for more stringent rules to protect women’s sport.
Victory For Sall
The courageous Sall Grover scored another victory for sanity, reality and women’s rights in Australia after she spoke out against the dehumanising term ‘birthing parent’ being used on government forms.
Bill Shorten MP, Minister for Government Services, intervened. He confirmed that these forms will be replaced with ones that use the word ‘Mother’.
Brava, Sall!
What A Relief
A newly opened London theatre, Soho Place, is not only separating its toilet facilities by sex, there will be more ladies than gents!
Very fitting that Sall Grover, new MOTHER of a baby daughter, won her bid for returning the word MOTHER to the government forms. What an adult human female!
MOTHER -- the first and last word of very nearly every human being on earth.
It's a sacred word, and fascist woman-hating ideologues want to steal it from real mothers, while using it for their own fetishistic manly selves. Unforgivable.
This is a great update!!! All these made my day. Thanks!
