A handful of the good news stories from the gender beat this week. Enjoy!
Talking Sex In Westminster
The Equality & Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has written to Women and Equalities Minister, Kemi Badenoch, to provide advice on the clarification of ‘sex’ in the Equality Act 2010.
The letter states, “We have come to the view that if ‘sex’ is defined as biological sex for the purposes of EqA, this would bring greater legal clarity in eight areas”. Those areas are 1) pregnancy and maternity, 2) freedom of association for lesbians and gay men, 3) freedom of association for women and men, 4) positive action, 5) occupational requirements, 6) single sex and separate sex services, 7) sport and 8) data collection.
According to The Telegraph Rishi Sunak is keen to implement these clarifications. “A source close to the Prime Minister said on Tuesday night that he remained committed to his leadership election pledge to ensure the facts of biology are written into the Act… The Secretary of State is taking that work forward and he supports her in doing so”.
In more good news from Whitehall, the Department for Education will no longer conflate sex with sex gender identity when collating data.
Shall I Be Mother?
The European Court of Human Rights has ruled that the refusal by authorities to record a trans-identified male as his child’s mother did not violate Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
“The Court found that, in line with the intention of the German legislature, the former gender and former forename of a transgender parent had to be indicated not only where the birth had taken place before the recognition of the parent’s gender change had become final but also where, as in the present case, the child had been conceived or born after the gender reclassification.”
A Level Playing Field
Swim England will ensure that women’s swimming competitions are open only to female participants.
The governing body has updated its ‘transgender and non-binary competition policy’ to ensure that, from 1st September, only female swimmers can take part in Swim England competitions. An open category is to be created for competitors who identify as trans or ‘non-binary’.
No Pronoun Police For Gardaí
There has been a u-turn on a directive which would have seen Ireland’s Gardaí forced to use ‘preferred pronouns’ in the workplace.
The policy introduced in March would have seen officers disciplined for failing to use someone’s preferred pronouns. However, following a backlash from the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors, Garda Commissioner, Drew Harris, has withdrawn the directive.
GLADD The BMJ Still Has A Spine
The British Medical Journal has stood up to GLADD’s tantrum over its article on the treating of children with gender dysphoria.
A few weeks ago, The British Medical Journal published an editorial by Kamran Abbasi about the treatment of gender dysphoria in young people. It criticises the blanket ‘affirmation only’ model, especially that in the USA for which, it says, ‘the evidence base is weak’.
“If we have the best interests of young people at heart, then surely our duty is to offer evidence informed care? And, if the evidence base is weak, we must provide the necessary support to young people as well as prioritising research… A better appreciation of the evidence, as well as the limits of medicine, is also the basis of a more constructive dialogue.”
Of course, this caused a collective conniption by GLADD, The Association of LGBTQ+ Doctors & Dentists.
Thankfully, the BMJ stood up to GLADD, refusing to retract or apologise for its article. The Editor-in-Chief responded, “For the avoidance of doubt, we do not agree with your criticisms of the articles and we will not be apologising. We do not accept your accusations of undeclared ideological interests… It is important that young people receive care in line with a rigorous assessment of the evidence. That's our only interest. We hope that is something you can agree with us on, and something we can all work towards”.
No Economising On Truth
On the same subject, this week The Economist published a front-page article, ‘What America Gets Wrong About Gender Medicine’, which criticises the medicalisation of dysphoric children and youths and examines the data around ‘gender affirmation’ medical treatments.
“Broadly speaking, the consensus in America is that medical intervention and gender affirmation are beneficial and should be more accessible. Across Europe several countries now believe that the evidence is lacking and such interventions should be used sparingly and need further study. The Europeans are right.”
Kudos To Cruz
Big respect to Cruz gay bar in Christchurch, New Zealand. They have taken a stand for women’s sex-based rights, nailing their colours to the mast not only on social media but on the billboard outside the venue.
Do pop over to Facebook and show them some love!
Thank you thank you thank you. Thank you JL.
Here's something I wrote just this morning. It's for a friend who's been tasked with holding the line in her workplace against the dark tide of 'gender ' ideology. She's fairly new to the ins and outs and ups and downs of the nonsense, so I've written some bare bones guidance for her.
"Some things to consider.
Mind you, this is but the tip of the iceberg.
Make no mistake. It’s the ‘trans’ ideology that is driving the ‘LGBT + alphabet to infinity’ movement. It’s an authoritarian, ‘no debate’, anti-intellectual, anti-science, anti-human, anti free-speech, woman-hating, child-hating, homophobic and misogynistic ideology. It’s a top down ideology, whose policies were cooked up in back rooms without any public input. Its tenets and mantras spread like wildfire via social media. An inordinate number of troubled, or autistic, or previously traumatized children and teens saw it as an explanation for their problems — they were born in the wrong body.
Unfortunately, ‘gender’ ideologues have infiltrated every level of government, educational institution, think tank, NGO, etc. Their policies reign supreme. It will take years to unpick the policy damage, and the psychic damage wrought upon several young generations. Not to mention the tide of upcoming court cases on the horizon. There’s a huge medical scandal brewing in the background. I think these are the cases that will ultimately bring down the entire shaky (no foundation in reality) nonsensical ‘gender’ ideology.
The very meaning of woman is being erased along with her refuges, hospital wards, crisis centres, prisons, schools, awards, sports, etc. etc. etc.
Children in their very earliest years are being indoctrinated with ‘gender’ nonsense in schools, even in library story hours.
More and more, lesbians and gays want to be unhitched from the alphabet train. LGB is sexual orientation. Any letter after it is a self-declared ‘identity’. The word ‘sex’ has been co-opted by the utterly meaningless and undefinable word ‘gender’.
This deliberate obfuscation of language has consequences. Insightful LGB people are rightly concerned that they are experiencing, and will continue to experience, more prejudice from the wider community because of the destruction caused by the ‘trans’ ideology (which has glommed onto LGB in order to ‘pass’ as a civil rights movement). It is not possible for men to be lesbians, nor for women to be gay men — yet this is the insane stance of ‘gender’ ideologists.
In Britain, two lovely lesbian women started LGB Alliance, a group set up to defend gays and lesbians from their erasure by the TQ+. This newly formed group has naturally been labelled a hate group, which they ARE NOT. Any pushback against the TQ+ is automatically labelled as hateful, ‘transphobic’, bigoted, and get this — fascist. People who push back are labelled as Nazis. (A bit of classic projection going on here.)
Keep in mind, a lot of LGB people have been indoctrinated into the ‘gender’ cult. Because it IS a cult with its mantras and mandated thought and speech. It ‘shuns’ desisters and de-transitioners. Ideologues refuse to debate. But many gay people think they are supporting a righteous civil rights movement, little knowing they are supporting their own erasure. If there is no such thing as a sex category, there is no such thing as homosexuality.
You’ll see all kinds of letters from the TQ+ brigade now demanding governments to stop the ‘anti-trans tide of hate’. There is no such tide of hate. There IS an increasing awareness (so long held back by ‘captured’ mainstream media, ’captured’ big tech, and ‘captured’ social media) about the immense damage being done in the name of ‘gender’ ideology.
Children’s and young people’s bodies and psyches are being ruined with experimental hormones, surgeries, and psychological indoctrination.
The general public is being compelled to deny biological reality.
Families and friendships are being torn asunder.
Workplaces are fraught with anxiety— people are afraid to offend, or to say the wrong thing. They are walking on eggshells. Many have lost their single sex bathrooms. Let alone their jobs.
Courts and police have been unduly influenced. Traumatized women, in court, have been compelled under legal threat to use feminine pronouns for their rapists.
So many officials in so many institutions have been forced to sit through hours and hours of
'gender' spun EDI indoctrination. Consequently, police in Britain have arrested and interviewed people for ‘gender’ critical tweets, while turning a blind eye to the aggression of ‘gender’ ideologues towards women fighting for their ever-diminishing rights. Police cars are painted with ‘trans’ flags.
Careers are ruined. People are terrified to say what they really think because of the cancellation consequences. There is so much Fear.
Keep in mind there is no ‘trans’ ‘community’. The ‘trans’ ‘umbrella’ contains every silly or dark ‘identity’ under the sun. What does a thirteen-year-old girl, who is being daily convinced she’s actually a boy, have in common with a middle-aged man with a cross-dressing fetish? None. There is no ‘community’.
As they sense the beginnings of public knowledge, disapproval, and pushback, ‘gender’ ideology’s extreme adherents are becoming more and more violent against the necessarily increasingly courageous pushback."
“You can’t enforce reality denial without authoritarianism. It’s not possible.” -Dr. Jane Clare Jones (a well known British feminist)
It's lovely to have some good news stories, the EHRC is great, the garda stance is better, the BMJ loved their response to the genderborg, the NZ Cruz bar gives you hope altogether with the fact that Europe is correct to say the evidence is weak for t healthcare and affirmation only in my opinion is just conversion therapy. Thanks JL 😊
