A round-up of some good news stories from the gender beat this week. Enjoy!
The Truth Will Out
The British Medical Journal published an editorial by Kamran Abbasi about the treatment of gender dysphoria in young people. It criticises the blanket ‘affirmation only’ model, especially that in the USA for which, it says, ‘the evidence base is weak’.
“If we have the best interests of young people at heart, then surely our duty is to offer evidence informed care? And, if the evidence base is weak, we must provide the necessary support to young people as well as prioritising research… A better appreciation of the evidence, as well as the limits of medicine, is also the basis of a more constructive dialogue.”
Similarly, a pioneer in the medical treatment of child gender dysphoria has spoken out against medicalising gender confused children and affirming their trans identities.
Dr. Susan Bradley, a Canadian psychiatrist, started a gender clinic for children with dysphoria in the 70s. Around 2005 her clinic began prescribing puberty blockers for its patients, a decision Bradley now bitterly regrets.
She spoke of her regret that the clinic had participated in the administration of puberty blockers for gender dysphoria, which she now believes can cement a child’s confusion rather than giving them the opportunity to grow out of it. She also expressed her concern over the drugs having side effects.
“We were wrong”, she said.
Leaving Them Kids Alone In Florida
Florida’s legislation to prevent minors from being medicalised as a treatment for gender dysphoria is now in effect.
The state’s new laws prohibit the use of puberty blockers, hormones or surgery to treat gender issues in anyone under the age of eighteen. Furthermore, Florida lawmakers are planning to strengthen the restrictions even further.
As the courageous Scott Newgent says, “Scream louder, it’s working”.
Chickens Coming Home To Roost, Hen
The Telegraph reported on the ‘astonishing decline’ in the SNP’s membership which has been blamed on the party’s dogged determination to force through its gender bill.
After initially refusing to provide the figures, the SNP have been forced to disclose that only 72,186 members were eligible to vote in the leadership election. That’s a drop of more than 50,000 since 2019.
“Nicola Sturgeon has denied the SNP is in crisis as the party was forced to admit that more than 40 per cent of its members have quit and her self-ID gender reforms were blamed for a recent mass exodus.”
Well, she would, wouldn’t she?
You’re Not Nicked!
The Home Secretary has announced plans to put an end to the recording of ‘non-crime hate incidents’ over remarks which cause people to be offended.
Suella Braverman has endorsed the new guidelines drawn up by the College of Policing which require officers to prioritise freedom of expression over the taking of offence. Police will be restricted to recording only those incidents motivated by intentional hostility and which pose a genuine risk of escalating into significant harm.
The Home Secretary said, “I have been deeply concerned about reports of the police wrongly getting involved in lawful debate in this country. We have been clear that in recording so-called non-crime hate incidents, officers must always have freedom of expression at the forefront of their minds”.
Our huge congratulations to Harry Miller and all at Fair Cop who have worked tirelessly over the last four years to make this happen.
Let Women Speak Down Under
Despite the usual attempts by trans activists to shut down women’s voices, KJK’s Let Women Speak tour in Australia is attracting huge crowds and much press attention.
And listen to this young woman’s brilliant speech.
“It’s my preference not to be called a cis woman. I do not qualify my existence in relation to another’s… I will be referred to as a woman, as female, as a feminist… There isn’t a misogynist alive who has the chops to change my mind. But they’ll call me a TERF regardless & I’m at the point when I just don’t fucking care… Reality defines who I am. Who we are.”
Glinner Of Hope
Don’t miss Our Graham’s interview in The Times this week.
“Trans is so loosely defined. It seems to cover both Eddie Izzard and a 16-year-old girl who’s got dysphoria. There’s got to be an understanding of the difference between a transsexual who has been through something immense in their lives and someone who’s putting on black fingernail polish and trying to get into the ladies…
As we keep pointing out, we are only talking about places where conflict arises. My point has never changed. It’s about women in prison, women in rape crisis centres, women in changing rooms. It’s about children. It’s about homophobia.”
And on the subject of Our Graham, as you know, he is fighting legal action from trans activist litigant, David Paisley.
It is vital that Graham defends himself against Paisley’s accusations. A win will prevent this litigant from terrorising other victims through the courts. Furthermore, it would also send a very definite message that the trans lobby cannot silence gender critical voices by using the law as a weapon.
So please do help with the crowdfunder if you can. There are only a few days left! Thank you so much.
Thanks JL, did you notice that we were all sounding a bit depressed and were in urgent need of good news? 😆
Sturgeon currently on Loose Women (can't define what a woman is), waffling and not being questioned to any great length.
Her great achievement in charge for 8 years, baby boxes (tax payer funded). Weren't Boots the Chemist doing baby boxes in the late 80s.
She is still technically FM of Scotland, so I don't know why she is on the daytime discussion show, except I do. It is all me, me, me, me... must get front and centre... me, me, me.
