Some of the good news stories from the gender beat this week. Enjoy!
Sunlight Pouring In
Research scientist and author, Professor Azeem Ibrahim OBE, wrote in The Herald to tell the stark truth about puberty blockers and their effects.
He put it quite simply, “We cannot allow activists masquerading as experts to have the final word any longer… Puberty blockers must be banned.”
Oh, Canada
Saskatchewan, Western Canada, has taken steps to protect its school children from the harms of gender identity ideology and queer theory. Education Minister, Dustin Duncan, unveiled new parental inclusion and consent policies this week.
Parental permission must now be sought before any change of name or pronouns can be instigated for pupils under the age of 16, parents must be informed about the sexual health education curriculum being taught and have the option to remove their child from the class and only teaching staff, as opposed to outside third-parties, will be able to present sexual education materials in the classroom.
First Do No Harm
There is evidence of a c-change at the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) regarding therapists who hold gender critical views.
The most recent version of the legal guidance BACP provides to its members makes very clear that holding gender critical beliefs as a therapist is now protected under the law and compatible with the Equality Act 2010.
Thoughtful Therapists commented on the significance of this revised statement, saying that it “Will begin to shift the balance of power within the BACP itself and potentially begin to open up currently closed areas for debate”.
Leave Them Kids Alone
Legislation ratified in Alabama makes it a felony for clinicians to treat gender dysphoria in anyone under nineteen with puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones.
This week a federal appeals court ruled that Alabama can enforce a ban outlawing the use of puberty blockers and hormones to treat children and teens with gender issues. Alabama Attorney General, Steve Marshall, called the ruling a “Significant victory for our country, for children, and for common sense”.
In similar news from Missouri, the ACLU has failed in its attempt to veto a law banning the medicalisation of gender-confused children.
Thanks to the decision of St. Louis Circuit Judge, Steven Ohmer, Missouri clinicians are now prohibited from providing hormones and so-called ‘gender affirming’ surgeries to minors. They risk having their licenses revoked if they violate the law.
A Boy Named Alice
Rock music legend, Alice Cooper, has spoken out against the ‘fad’ of gender identity ideology and ‘the whole woke thing’ this week.
Speaking in an interview with Stereogum, Alice Cooper condemned the medicalisation of gender-confused children. “What are we in, a Kurt Vonnegut novel?”, he asked. “It’s so absurd.”
He went on to defend women’s spaces. “A guy can walk into a woman’s bathroom at any time and just say, ‘I just feel like I’m a woman today’… He’s just taking advantage of that situation”, he said. “It’s getting to the point now where it’s laughable. If anybody was trying to make a point on this thing, they turned it into a huge comedy.”
Doing The Heavy Lifting
The Canadian Powerlifting Union (CPU) is being brought to heel by the sport’s governing body after a trans-identified male, Anne Andres, was allowed to trounce a female competition a few weeks ago.
The International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) has insisted that the CPU must align with its rules which state that competitors have to disclose their testosterone levels and provide government-issued ID confirming their ‘gender identity’.
Of course, there should not be any males in women’s sports at all, ever. But this is a huge step in the right direction for power lifting and demonstrates what can be achieved when we all raise our voices in protest. Keep speaking out!
Dates For Your Diary
If you’re in Newport, Wales, don’t miss the ‘Terf Pride’ event on Saturday. Gather by the Wave sculpture at 11am.
The organiser tells me the event is a chance for like-minded female friends to meet, mingle, talk, make speeches, ask questions, sing, recite poetry… there may even be a puppet show! Sounds like a great day out.
And, for London lesbians, Jenny Watson has organised a strictly female only night on Friday 8th September. Email londonlesbiansocials@gmail.com for more details and/or to volunteer as a steward.
bloody hell you know society’s in trouble when alice cooper is making more sense than the labour party.
I’m uplifted, Graham. I genuinely believe we’ve turned a corner and trans ideology is being exposed for the nonsense it is worldwide thanks to people like you.
They can dress as a woman if they must, but they’re not and will never be. Therefore they can have no access to our single-sex spaces, jobs, refuges, sports, jails - and especially our children. Their gaslighting, bullying and disinformation has been exposed.
