If he was anything else - a football coach, a youth club leader - whatever - he would immediately set off alarm bells, but he's a senior figure in the Church Of Gender and questioning his motives is the new blasphemy.

In fairness, our local Mencap has a youth group for 13-18 year olds, and autism charities frequently have groups for this age range. Perhaps we should see this as a support group for young people with individual needs...

He is 21 now but Mencap were very good at safeguarding and I was confident he was well protected and the activities were suitable (karaoke, games etc.) when he was at the youth club. The staff and volunteers were lovely.
