16th June saw the launch of the Open University Gender Critical Research Network. “A range of academics and scholars, all of which share a common interest in exploring how sexed bodies come to matter in their respective research fields and a common commitment to ensuring that a space within academia is kept open for those explorations
I studied with OU last year but their gender woo stuff gave me second thoughts about continuing with them. They sent out a questionnaire asking how folk felt about this and I obviously said it had turned things around for me. They need to stand their ground because Universities are making themselves laughing stocks with their biology denial.
I did my degree with the OU - they're a brilliant institution and I hope they will keep this department open. How distance students can claim to be 'intimidated' by a department and staff they will never meet is beyond me.
I'm reminded of the students at Clare College Cambridge who harassed Kevin Price because they claimed he made them feel intimidated and vulnerable. All Mr Price had done was resign from the labour party in protest at their championing trans rights over women's. Those privileged bastard students didn't feel too bloody intimidated to hound a working man out of his job.
ANTI-intellectual? What are they talking about? It's great news that intellectuals and scientists will critically evaluate gender ideology and bring some truth into the distortions running wild globally about biological differences between men and women. What they're really frightened about is that this might at last bring some rational truth into providing a more honest and open evaluation into what are the real biological differences between men and women. This is the only way we can ensure everyone, including women (whose health statistics have always been subsumed with men's as the 'norm'), can understand our biology, our physical bodies and our health better, and create appropriate provision for all of us. I just don't understand why that is seen as a threat.
So they removed this 'open letter' when some actual adults at OU perhaps 'had a quiet word', and then they surreptitiously hid it behind a cushion on the sofa whilst whistling and looking nonchalantly out of the window. 'Nothing to see here...'.
It appears then that the The LSE and Political Science Department of Gender 'Studies' has just done what could be considered as the University version of the childhood game of 'knock and run'.
Congratulations to the OU! I hope this initiative survives. By contrast, my local university has the world's first chair in transgender studies, generously funded by none other than Jennifer Pritzker. No chance of a gender critical stance from them I'm guessing! https://www.uvic.ca/research/transchair/
I am a former OU student, so I am delighted to hear they have a GC research group. Given I'm at Stirling for a postgraduate course, which is about as woke as you can get, the news is a breath of fresh air!
The troons have really swallowed their own 'no debate' tactic. They will be unaccustomed to answering any challenges because they've mostly refused to, claiming oppression and transphobia at every turn. Maybe the trans-identified boy has cried wolf once too many times.
This may be highjacking the thread a little but anyway:
As a US reader I realize I don’t fully understand the term “sexed bodies,” which is why I don’t fully understand what is meant by the Haniland question:
“Do you believe that male-sexed people should have the right to undress and shower in a communal changing room with women and girls?”
It’s ambiguous. In the US, “male sexed” could mean simply someone with male DNA, but who has transitioned, and doesnt have male genitalia.
So the answer to the Haniland question here in the US would be “huh?”
On the other hand, the African American woman in that viral spa (Wii Spa in LA) YouTube video from a few days ago knows exactly what she is seeing: “he has a PENIS … and testicles!”
So: does “male-sexed” mean “possessing a penis and testicles”?
So wanted to read the "Statement of solidarity". Links not working. If it's because the gender crit school is taking legal action, good. If not, can someone point me to a copy of the statement.

I would love these entitled but "terrified" of words to be transplanted to a war zone..
Also everyone this happens legal action is taken..cos when the Uni is in court maybe they will start acting like centres of free speech.

Basically - "SHUT THEM UP OR WE'LL DIE!"
