Yup. All of this. It's a kind of verbal trickery that is there to root out the blasphemers : you confirm your adherence to the cult under threat of being denounced. It reminds me of the Romans making the early Christians put a pinch of incense on a pagan altar- just do this one little pronoun circle because you're not a nasty bigot, are you? Just pretend Jupiter exists. Just pretend we all have gender-souls.

Oh god, It's like Leo Kearse said in that extremely funny standup routine he does. "It's called microaggresion, which is basically an agresion so small you should really ignore it. All of them should go to Glasgow and witness some really large aggressions"

I find the latinx thing particularly weird because English already has a gender-neutral version of latina/latino. It's latin. As in Latin America.

Inconsistent - so the author thinks that using "they" for a single referent, is not reasonable but using "she" for a male referent is reasonable because hey, Rose of Dawn is nice and 'do as you would be done by'.?

One rule for people (men, it seems) he likes and another for the young people he doesn't like. The author is conferring the requested pronouns on people depending on his own feelings of largesse at the time. How noble. Except - truth. It's not true. 'She' is a pronoun for females not males. And the reality? Women, it is women who lose their descriptors and hence the language used in law to protect them, not men. 'Her penis' anyone?

Hypocritical article with a huge blind spot. Women. 'She/her' in surface structure refers to 'the woman'' in deep structure, transformational Grammar. Do we say that the word woman = adult human female or woman = any one male or female who wants to be called a woman? Come ON! This is basic stuff and I'm sick and tired of men telling women (or inferring) that we are nasty and mean for not calling the trans women they like 'she' while they calling out other trans women. It's incredibly arrogant. This is not your word. Call your friends what you want in the pub, but not in public life because a. It's not true b. It's an insidious coercion of speech c. It undermines women's legal rights and d. It is a form of gas lighting. IE emotional and mental abuse
