Nutmeg's week: Charlie Kirk, Sarah Jane Baker, Shon Faye
We might be in the midst of an explosion in extreme trans activist violence at the moment, but BBC News knows what’s truly ‘petrifying’.
A Turning Point
Three weeks ago a cross-dressing man murdered random children, two weeks ago Graham Linehan was arrested by five armed police officers for gender critical tweets and last week one of the world’s most famous free speech advocates was murdered, allegedly by a trans activist.
While all three events have been global stories, it is perhaps the reaction to the last one, from the mainstream establishment left to the far left, that has shown the world the level of derangement, cruelty and dishonesty that British ‘terfs’ have been trying to highlight for several years.
Many might have seen the celebrations of Charlie Kirk’s death, and calls for more violence, on platforms such as Bluesky, Reddit and Discord. However, what might have been more shocking has been how establishment-adjacent figures have fed into this culture by spreading disinformation and justifying the murder of people they disagree with.
For example, before she ran into trouble with the GMC, Dr Helen Webberley, who runs a clinic that sells puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to children, would appear on platforms such as BBC News to talk about ‘gender-affirming medical care’. After Linehan’s arrest earlier this month, she tweeted what appears to be a death threat, with ‘your time is coming’ followed by an image of a coffin.
Her former colleague is Susie Green, who now runs Anne Health, a rival company to Webberley’s GenderGP. The former CEO of Mermaids has appeared as a guest on the BBC numerous times over the years, and there was even a glowing three-part ITV drama made about her life, in which she’s played by Anna Friel, which is still available on ITVX. Her company’s website sells t-shirts in which the first names of certain people - JK Rowling, Graham Linehan, Sharron Davies, Kellie-Jay Keen and Maya Forstater - are crossed out and underneath it says ‘Dead Names’.
This culture of people with large followings, who’ve been promoted by the establishment, suggesting they want ideological opponents to die has been tolerated by the same establishment for a while now. Last year the trans activist actor David Tennant wished that Kemi Badenoch “doesn’t exist anymore”, to cheers at an LGBT awards ceremony. This had no detrimental effect on his career, yet Gina Carano, a woman who says men are not women, was removed from the cast of Star Wars for comparing people who persecute others for their political views to Nazis.
Last week music act Bob Vylan, invited this year to Glastonbury, during which they were screened live on the BBC, mocked the murder of Charlie Kirk (they have since had at least one gig cancelled and the lead singer’s US visa has been revoked). Numerous academics celebrated Kirk’s murder, as did the president-elect of the Oxford Union, reminiscent of the BBC journalists who liked social media posts that celebrated October 7.
And as well as the death threats and the celebrations of murder, establishment figures have also lied about Charlie Kirk, presumably in a bid to justify his killing. There have been several examples of this, some highlighted in Graham Linehan’s recent Substack post. They include a late night TV host saying the killer was a Trump supporter, even though his own family said he was a left-winger who had become radicalised over the issue of trans rights. A mainstream media journalist quoted a ‘disinformation expert’ to say that Kirk was ‘likely’ murdered by a ‘white supremacist’. Alastair Campbell, someone who positions himself as an expert commentator on modern culture, shared a clip that looked like Kirk was calling for gay men to be stoned to death, and didn’t realise it had deliberately been taken out of context (he did, at least, later apologise). Channel 4’s Matt Frei called Kirk ‘far right’.
The lies, the culture of death threats and the celebration of murder at an establishment level have arguably emboldened trans activists. Here’s three cross-dressing men, who all claim that ‘misgendering’ them is literal violence, laughing about Kirk’s murder.
None of the people named in this section have been arrested. Meanwhile, Graham Linehan was placed in a cell for a joke about punching a woman in the balls.
Tolerating violent rhetoric in order to pander to disordered men is incredibly dangerous. And the media needs to be more honest about how disordered some of these people are. Just one month before Charlie Kirk’s assassination, a young cross-dressing man requested the death penalty for himself after confessing to murdering both his parents and attempting to murder his brother. This story received almost no media interest and has only come to light because the killer lived within walking distance of the home Kirk’s alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, shared with his transvestite boyfriend.
Speaking of transvestite prisoners
Trans Pride Surrey (TPS) took place in Epsom just a week after Pride in Surrey’s (PiS) annual event in Guildford, which went ahead despite the founder of PiS being sentenced to 30 years in prison for child sex offences in June. The event was sponsored by Unison and featured at least one representative of the union, alongside former violent convict Alan ‘Sarah Jane’ Baker (more of him later) and several grown men clutching cuddly sharks.
Although TPS and PiS have strong connections with each other, TPS is a separate organisation founded by a man who pretends to be a female football referee. There are some major links between the two organisations, one of which is PiS founder and convicted child rapist Stephen Ireland, who was close friends with TPS founder, ‘Lucy’ Clark. Clark also founded Trans Radio UK (TRUK), on which PiS founder Stephen Ireland regularly presented a show with his partner, David Sutton, who is also in prison for child sex offences. Clark now claims he hardly knew Ireland, but Ireland posted that he was ‘honoured to call this beautiful, amazing woman a friend’.
The other major link between TPS and PiS is convicted violent criminal Alan ‘Sarah Jane’ Baker. Baker is currently free from prison on life licence after a long line of convictions for kidnap, torture, attempted murder and drug dealing. He claims he cut off and ate his own testicles in prison. Baker featured in Nutmeg’s Week in June this year, when he led a topless protest in response to the Supreme Court ruling and called for terfs to ‘be afraid’. He is a common feature of ‘trans’ events and protests and famously called through a loudhailer for attendees of Trans Pride London 2023 to punch ‘terfs’ ‘in the fucking face.’ Baker was also the guest of honour and performed at a ‘baby shower’ hosted at the new PiS hub in Egham in May. The event featured t-shirts with the wildly inappropriate slogan ‘sorry daddy.’
At the TPS event last week Baker was once again treated as a celebrity and handed the microphone. ‘Highlights’ of his speech include calls to ‘show the fascists that they will never, never make us disappear’, along with chants of ‘free free Palestine.’ He just about managed not to dance with joy about Charlie Kirk’s murder, but his alignment of Kirk with gender critical US politician Nancy Mace is deliberately menacing. Most sinister of all was the statement, ‘you know who I am, I take no prisoners.’ As Fred Sargeant says, this is an odd choice of words considering Baker served 30 years for the last prisoner he took.
Some good news (sort of)
Shon Faye, a male writer who pretends to be a woman and once called for ‘terfs’ to ‘enjoy your erasure’ has decreed that the ‘trans rights’ movement is ‘over.’
Except that what he really means is his personal grift has become less lucrative. He is even honest enough to declare that ‘the middle-class trans micro-economy that boomed in the 2010s: Pride month corporate sponsorship, jobs at LGBT charities, DEI talks and panels, diversity modelling and ad campaigns, progressive theatre, educational books about being trans etc, which some of us used to make a living, has gone.’ He accepts ‘trans people’ are no longer ‘fashionable or marketable’, which he puts down to the success of the ‘well-funded Christian evangelical movement, which has decided to make trans people public enemy number one.’ Shon cannot comprehend the effect on public perception of the endless succession of violent and sexual crimes committed by trans identified men, but at least he has recognised that the game is up.
Some good news (definitely)
Linzi Smith and Fair Cop have won another victory over the Football Association (FA). Linzi sued the FA over its partnership with Stonewall and the Rainbow Laces campaign, which saw footballers wearing rainbow armbands and laces, which Linzi argued demonstrated support for gender ideology. The FA has already ended its association with Stonewall and now says it will no longer participate in the Rainbow Laces campaign and intends to ‘move away from supporting single campaigns based on symbolism.’
Another great week for Auntie
BBC Radio 4 had an extremely posh ‘non-binary’ woman on to complain that the problem with UK academia is that it’s too ‘anti trans’.
BBC News has now written at least eight articles about Warwickshire County Council’s decision to not fly the trans pride flag at council headquarters. It has, however, written zero articles about the health secretary’s office repeatedly getting vandalised by ‘trans rage protesters’.
And you may remember that a few months ago the ‘Should I Tell You I’m Trans?’ documentary appeared on the iPlayer. Presented by a trans activist, it features and promotes several people saying it’s fine to lie to a potential partner about your sex, even though this is sexual assault. At no point does the film even mention that sexual intimacy without disclosure, and therefore consent, is a serious sexual offence. It has now added a legal note to the programme that states it ‘may be’ a criminal offence to deceive a partner about your biological sex. It also stated that’s because ‘since publication’, the CPS has revised guidance - even though the guidance was revised in 2024 and it wasn’t that different to what existed before, it just now specifically states ‘biological sex’ rather than the meaningless ‘gender identity’.
And finally
Healthwatch England (HE) has produced recommendations for GP surgeries so they offer more ‘gender-affirming care’. Examples include ‘display LGBT materials in waiting rooms’ and ‘Apply for a Pride award’. HE’s CEO, Louise Ansari, has just been appointed director of NHS England. This comes as Healthwatch Essex’s ‘trauma ambassadors Indigo and Nix’ have written about why it’s not ‘ethical’ to enforce single-sex hospital wards. And this comes as a ‘genderqueer neurosurgeon’ has given a 44-minute talk about himself, ‘microaggressions’ and the work being done behind the scenes in the NHS to undermine the Supreme Court ruling.
See you next week!

Hello Nutmeg, the Glinner massive and big G (y'know, the funny Irish fella). I've been skint & unable to pony up for a while until now, so thanks very much for all excellent readin' I've enjoyed w/out comment.
Seems all four wheels of the gender extremist bandwagon have fallen off, with a spectacular implosion imminent. Well done to each and every one of the passengers.
Did you see Private Eye? There's a great item about Graham's abusive gender goon stalkers & harassers, and It rips into the feckers with aplomb. There are a couple of other items which are decidedly 'stunning & brave' unfriendly.
Great post!
I'll leave this here:

A look into the the funding of anitfa and probably the other organizations that have been pushing the astroturf for the last decade plus. This is why I think that Kirk's assassin was a kid going off the reservation, because I am sure none of the people funding trans/antifa, etc ever wanted others to look into their funding and networks.
PS: I had the weirdest experience of a trans man accosting me on this platform (which turned into a kerfuffle when she deleted her post and I responded to the wrong person :/). It was just an unpunctuated paragraph about how awful I was for deadnaming and misgendering and how transmen were strong. And all I could think of was how no man ever posted a message like that...
