I left a comment on Kate and Jesse’s Blocked and Reported Patreon page. Let me know if they respond to it!
Here’s the whole thing.
“Long time listener, first time commenter.
I understand Jesse might have got a fright when he found himself on that GLAAD list (why wasn't I on it? I'm outraged!) but his and Katie's subsequent behaviour has been so craven I couldn't believe it at first. I've said again and again I would answer any question on my positions, but Katie and Jesse are terrified to give me a platform because they know they would come out of it either cancelled, or looking like clowns.
'Her' was a lesbian app until they bought into gender identity ideology, when they quicky decided they were a 'Queer' app. Allowing straight men to identify as lesbians is clearly a homphobic attack on lesbians, but Katie and Jesse would rather criticise me for exposing it, than address the fact that lesbians no longer have spaces of their own. They may not care about the young lesbians who sent those profile photos to me, but I do.
Also, to the misgendering charge, here is a piece of journalism that you will never see from either Katie or Jesse. Throughout it, we name Andi Dier as the abusive man he is. When you give female pronuns to abusive men--be they sexual predators, trolls, sports cheats, fetishists, conmen, or any man trying to get into a female-only space--then you empower and protect them. https://grahamlinehan.substack.com/p/rose-mcgowan-and-the-reversal-of
The American taboo on misgendering is, as I'm sure they're both well aware, a form of compelled speech. I know that's currently big over there in the land of the free, but here, in England (and increasingly in Scotland, Ireland and Wales) we don't observe your luxury beliefs or the taboos arising from them. UK women saw the danger to their rights and their safety because of silly, homophobic, incoherent, misogynistic gender identity ideology and are fighting back. I'm surprised that Katie and Jesse are pretending not to see it too, even to the extent that they'll throw someone under the bus for challenging it.
Katie and Jesse say they're journalists, not activists. Fine, so how about either of them properly investigate gender identity? To many, it is a fundamentally flawed, quasi-religious, non-scientific concept that American journalists have just accepted as fact and never interrogated - it is a massive failure of American journalism. It probably suits Jesse and Katie them to pretend that that every single trans person suffers from dysphoria, when all the evidence is pointing to the fact that it is driven by paraphilias in a huge proportion of adult trans-identified males (see: Andrea Chu, Torrey Peters, Grace Lavery, Aimee Challenor etc etc etc) , and by various mental health and neurological and social issues in trans-identified girls.
But I suspect they will continue to swerve the substance of this debate and leave comedy writers and principled feminists to pick up the slack. All I ask is they don't spread harmful untruths about us while we're doing their jobs for them.
Best thing about being on the page was seeing this—they’re literally warning people not to look at the site! I guess actual journalism might be triggering to their supporters.
Great response. What's the three phases of TRA arguments? 1. This never happens 2. This might occasionally happen but it's so rare it's not worth talking about. 3. Shut up and die, Terf. Jesse and Katie are firmly at number two and they've had a lot of support because compared to the rest of the transactivists at number 3, they seemed reasonable. No more.
Especially unimpressed with Jesse saying the evidence for puberty blockers is extremely weak YET he still believes they're a useful treatment for children with dysphoria. Based on what? As you, Arty and Helen have said, this is a faith based movement.
Unbelievable that they have the nerve to post a link to your article whilst recommending people not to read it!
Then again, the US 'left' always did think that 'puffing but not inhaling' was an idea you could sell.
