The abortion and trans issues aren’t going away in the US or here. Always a mistake to underestimate women, particularly the Boomers! We fought for the rights that are being erased. Time for the snowflake generation to waken up and see that the world is a dark place and “being kind” gets you nowhere.

Transsexuals will never need abortions

The Democrats don't know what a woman is.

The Republicans don't care.

"enjoy ur erasure"

Delightful - the voice of Kindness, Tolerance & Inclusivity, there. Getting women (like Atwood) to conspire in their own erasure - under the impression that they were being kind - was something Orwell couldn't have dreamt up for fiction.

Florence is my niece ... when I was speaking out in my family about the sexist abuse towards me of her dad and her grandfather ... crickets. It doesn't surprise me she would be buddies with a shemale - such an improvement on boring, leaky, strident females.

To Shon Faye’s comments re “I’m a woman because the law says so “ ... someone needs to tell him of the well-known saying: “The Law is an Ass”.

Next time the National Anthem is played here in the States every woman and girl should take a knee.

What I cannot bear to read about is the details of how crazy all this could get. The ways that women may/will be criminalised for pregnancy loss. The more I read and the bilge judges are spouting makes less and less sense and is infinitely depressing. This is the iceberg stain Trump left that we were warned about years ago.

It is possible to not know you are pregnant until quite far gone and there is a link to a number of other factors. It used to be a favourite of very cheap magazines in the UK (that cost 5 or 10p) that every week seemed to have 'I didn't know I was pregnant I thought it was a bad curry' with women or girls who'd had babies with their great grandmother's boyfriends or neighbours. The way women, our rights and our bodies are talked about is a strange mix of mockery, fear, ignorance and woo. We are the very uterus havers the trans lobby delight in calling us. That is how the TRA rot worked its way so deep so quickly - it was already there. One abiding characteristic of authoritarian regimes is their oddly similar views about the control of women. Men controlling women. Women controlling other women.

I feel utter shame that this and we are politicised and mixed with religion. We are lurching to extremes in the UK and then looky here the US lurches even further.

It's strange looking at the maps of where this is happening - following the same patterns of the middle and the seaboards. Outward or inward looking and how that impacts the world and the way we see everything.

I feel that female power is slumbering, largely ignoring the little pricks. But she will wake up soon with all her tolerance exhausted.

Here is what I wrote on my personal Facebook page today (yes, I am an American woman; a dual citizen, born and mainly raised in the United States. This makes me want to move to the UK, where a good deal of my family resides now). The legislation the Dems passed to which I refer is the official gutting of Title IX on its 50th anniversary, the same day Roe v Wade was overturned. They changed every instance of “sex” to include “gender identity,” which supersedes sex; effectively, women’s rights to single sex spaces (and sports, and shortlists, and scholarships) just became male rights to female spaces (and sports, and shortlists, and scholarships) whenever they so should please. It is an abomination that they have done this to Title IX, one which no one is talking about. Biden also failed to remove his executive branch’s block on passing the Equal Rights Amendment earlier this year, passing the buck to the House, where nothing happened. Obama ran on a platform of promising to codify abortion rights into law, and instead did his level best to get the ball rolling to gut Title IX. The House failed to renew the Violence Against Women Act, and we are among few countries in the world- not the developed world, the world- that do not have federally mandated paid maternity leave. Women give birth here over the weekend and are back to work on Monday. Newborns in daycare are a common sight. This country is truly a hellscape for women, and I’m considering leaving; though thank God I now live in a state in which my abortion rights are protected. Before, I didn’t.

In any case, here was my status today. It is the first time I have essentially come out as gender critical on my wall:

If we are ever going to make real change, we need to stop pretending that there is any party now currently willing to do that. The Democratic Party is no longer a left-wing entity, if ever it were; it’s a male supremacist corporate cult with a specific set of beliefs and practices. The Republican Party is a male supremacist religious corporate cult with a specific set of beliefs and practices. I’d argue the Democratic Party has its own homegrown religions it’s now hypocritically forcing onto the populace, so we can throw ”religious” in there, too. Neither of them are in any way representative of what the vast majority of people in this country actually need, and both of them are abjectly misogynist in their policies and practices, and I’d argue they are both white supremacist and racist, too, only the Democrats’ racism, like its sexism, is cringingly self-righteous.

When it comes to women’s rights, I see Democrats as the party of rape, and Republicans as the party of forced birth; both parties passed anti-woman legislation stripping women of their rights on the same day last week, one party facilitating the rape of women in prison, the other forced birth of unwilling women. I am very tired of people who don’t recognize that we do not have a true left in this country and somehow think this misogynistic party is going to pull a rabbit out of a hat with regard to abortion rights after fifty years of twiddling its thumbs.

We need a Women’s Party, that’s for sure; and all civil rights movements need to return to grassroots, refuse money from corporate donors including billionaire-sponsored nonprofits, and they need to break away from the party of exploitation. The Democratic Party has monetized the search for human rights and in doing so reifies sexism and racism and runs on a platform of enforcing sexist and racist stereotypes in our populace. The Democratic and Republican parties both need an antagonist, which is why they pretend their aims are far off, when they’re not; they are both sexist, racist, and classist to the core. One pretends to be progressive and uses sympathy-mongering and false promises to get votes. The other pretends to be regressive and uses fear-mongering and false promises to get votes. They are, in fact, both working for the same cause- corporotocratic technocratic oligarchy; they merely disagree on what religion the new regime should have, and whether it should whip its subjects or teach them to read.

It’s no surprise Roe v Wade was repealed by right-wing religious ideologues, and with regard to the role played by the so-called left, this loss of American women’s rights to bodily and reproductive autonomy is not due to earnest failure on the part of the Democratic Party after fighting hard for women’s rights (it’s hard to hold in laughter just typing that). It wasn’t even due to lack of interest in the issues of we second-class citizens. The Democrats’ failure to even try to codify abortion rights into federal law was a purposeful and cynical strategy to hold women’s vote hostage so they could advance men’s interests at our expense- promoting industries which traffic in women’s bodies and stripping us of Title IX protections; their plan has always been to force women to vote for them no matter what they do to us or face the worse prospect of forced birth. That is not a party that likes or cares about women.

Please stop pretending Democrats care about women. They claim to not even know who we are. The judgment that struck down Roe v Wade alleged women were not protected under the 14th amendment’s equal rights clause because any decision about abortion would not be sex-based. The Democrats, who seek to do away with any and all understanding that biological sex even exists, much less that women’s oppression is sex-based, would agree with this.

I would urge every actual activist out there to desert our corporate overlords and organize to create real parties of change.
