“Trans friend Jenny says it would be like putting a black person on with a racist”

He must not realize that taking his trans friend Jenny’s advice is like letting someone wearing blackface define what a Black person is.

Blatant discrimination against women from the BBC!

Shameful.

Did anyone mention to that Radio 4 producer that the BBC is supposed to be impartial? They seem to have given up even pretending to be.

"This year can’t end soon enough." Sadly 2020 is the year that will keep on giving well into 2021! **sigh**

Yes, I think you are right. I also think that people shouldn't expect any or much improvements in the new year - A lot will be disappointed if they are hoping for change.

The increase in programming and the attack on the impartiality of OfCom is part of a "pro-trans" counter-attack in the wake of the Keira Bell decision. The TRAs are aware that mainstream media are having to report questions about puberty, puberty blockers, growing up and mental health (just a bit!) in a more objective way now. And it was great to read all the questions in "The Herald" asking why Scotland's Sandyford gender identity service for kids was NOT following the ruling in the English High Court. Lots of fairly personal attacks on Nicola Sturgeon.

Overall, Graham: we are beginning to get them on the run. They wouldn't counter-attack so violently if we were not having a real effect!

Well if it's any consolation loads of people are losing their jobs at the BBC and the direction of travel is to have more American-style media like Netflix.

Probably not what people want to hear but each programme, each division, and subdivision and team is generally fairly independent. So you can tear down the entire institution for the sake of the ones that are on the other side - an institution that employs 10,000 women, gives them very good maternity benefits, union representation, many of whom work in 3rd world countries where pay and conditions are far below that standard - and replace it with Netflix and Fox, and at least get the satisfaction of revenge?

When I've seen stupidity and bad faith at corporations I go on LinkedIn, find the heads of departments send an InMail and politely explain what the person did and who and why what they did is damaging. Set out my own stall.

I also think there are many who are not like the above. Emily Maitlis and Matthew Parris, Nick Robinson, various people on Women's Hour, Graham Norton, Mark Steel has ridiculed the gender thing, it's a mixed bag. As it should be.

I've had some really valuable stuff "lost" in the mail, with terrible consequences because of it. Did I cheer on the Tories when the flogged off Royal Mail? No, I fought it tooth and nail, wrote to every damn MP that had a hand in it, and explained the importance of keeping public institutions in the public hands. These were also good jobs with good benefits and maternity leave and sick pay and pensions, and union representation and collective bargaining.

It's funny. We fight against campaigns of billionaires who have managed to get into the heads of people and believe they're fighting demons (i.e. us). Don't think the "Defund the BBC" campaigns are any different. They are also funded by billionaires who have been rubbing their hands for years waiting for the highly profitable American style media to come in and take over. As far as I'm concerned we're just as bad as the other side when we start doing the work for the billionaires agendas.

Ho hum. Guess everyone will just destroy everything in the end. Their side will destroy the bits they don't like and we'll destroy the bits we don't like. That's all it's come to now. Just tear it all down. Tear it all down even if a part of it is on the wrong side.

Maybe we're not so far from America after all. In which case, what's even the point of a British Broadcasting Corporation?
