It is more difficult to close your eyes and ears and sing "la la la la" when it is compared to an exisiting pattern with known harms caused directly by such a strategy. I do not think I will be quick to forgive the harms done to women's and LGB rights and to children's bodies. Especially not by people in positions of power who should have protected them. My trust in the police, the medical practice and politicians in power has plummeted.
