What a week! Here are a few of the good news stories from the gender beat. Enjoy!
That’s Some Section, That Section 35
The big news this week, of course, is that Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak and Secretary of State for Scotland, Alister Jack, have decided to use their constitutional power to veto the Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill.
They will be using Section 35 legislation to prevent the bill from going to royal assent.
Read All About It
A welcome effect of this news is that some much-needed sunlight is now pouring into the gender debate with the issue being discussed in various news outlets.
Consequently, gender identity ideology and the politicians who espouse it are crumbling to dust under public scrutiny. For example, watch the total car crash that was Tom Swarbrick’s LBC interview with Maggie Chapman, Green Party MSP for North East Scotland. It’s too funny to miss!
Kemi’s Conversion Concerns
Women and Equalities Minister, Kemi Badenoch, is to write to Conservative MPs to express her concerns over the inclusion of gender identity in the government’s conversion therapy bill.
A source close to Badenoch told the paper, “The area of gender identity is much more complex than sexual orientation. We have said we will not inadvertently criminalise parents who are trying to support children”.
Ladies Of Leeds
On Wednesday, feminist campaign group, Leeds Resisters, delivered a deputation to Leeds City Council. They asked the council to look at the safeguarding of women and girls and consider the need for refuges to be single sex.
It was voted through.
Huge congratulations to all involved.
Brava Baroness Nicholson
The Science Museum has removed a so-called ‘trans inclusive’ exhibit after complaints that it was pushing propaganda.
The ‘Boy or Girl?’ installation featured a fake penis and chest binders and material promoting medical transition as a ‘hero’s journey’. It was removed after Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne wrote to the museum’s chairman, Sir Ian Blatchford.
The Science Museum has confirmed that the display has been dismantled “As part of ongoing work to review displays across the museum to ensure they reflect current scientific research”.
Leaving Them Kids Alone
Schools are to receive guidance on the ‘social transition’ of pupils who are struggling with gender issues.
The official advice, due to be published by the Department for Education (DfE) in the coming months, will warn schools that allowing pupils to use the names and pronouns of the opposite sex can negatively impact their health and wellbeing.
Three senior sources close to the DfE have told The Telegraph that this guidance will reflect the interim findings of the Cass review. It will state that ‘socially transitioning’ children is ‘not a neutral act’ and can significantly impact ‘psychological functioning’.
The Dominoes Continue To Fall
The London School of Economics is the latest organisation to abandon Stonewall’s ‘diversity champions scheme’.
An LSE spokesman said, “Following discussion across the school community, and careful consideration of the range of perspectives shared, LSE has taken the decision to not renew our institutional membership with Stonewall”.
Mermaids’ Training Binned
The South London and Maudsley NHS Trust has decided against the provision of staff training by child-catcher charity, Mermaids.
Last week The Telegraph revealed that Mermaids was going to provide ‘LGBT awareness’ training for trust staff. That training has now been scrapped.
A spokesman for the trust said, “We are committed to providing our staff with the right training to deliver personalised, safe and therapeutic care for young people and adults using mental health services, but we have taken the decision to stop our work with Mermaids.”
Maggie Chapman parrots the gender propaganda so well it clearly doesn't leave her with any spare brain cells to think about what she is actually saying. As a regional MSP she was selected by the Green Party and not voted for as an individual. I hope the Scots can see what idiots they get if they vote Green.
As you say, Graham, much needed light being shone on gender woo woo. Just loving watching the nationalists up here in Scotland squirm as they try to justify a convicted rapist dressed in pink (!) being house in a women’s prison. We see you all, you bampots. 👀
